4 Bible verses about receiving God’s peace
In my experience, I have found that very few people truly live in peace. It seems there is always something to fight with. We fight with work, money, family, traffic, politics… Problems can compound and build up to the point of frustration. So how do we live in peace? Can we?
The Bible talks about peace quite a bit. In fact, peace is listed 362 times! So how do we truly experience God’s peace since it is clearly a big deal in the Bible?
We can experience God’s peace based on His promise to us. When we accept Jesus as our Savior, we are adopted into God’s family and become His children. Because of this, we can experience His peace! This first verse shows that we have peace, not because of anything we did, but because of what Jesus did.
Romans 5:1
Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us.
We can also experience God’s peace when we obey Him and walk with Him. When we step into His presence and obey His word and trust in Him, then we will not only have peace, but hope and joy as well:
Romans 15:13
I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.
As we walk through life, we will undoubtedly face trials and circumstances that seem anything but peaceful. Just about any story in the Bible has moments when circumstances take center stage, and peace seems far away. Does this remind you of your life at all?
In these moments, remember the words of Jesus no matter what circumstances surround you. Jesus took peace seriously – no matter what was happening:
John 14:27
“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.
John 16:33
I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”
Trust Jesus in your circumstances. Seek Him in your trials. He doesn’t just give you peace, He is your peace! Spend time reading His word and in prayer, and experience the Prince of Peace as Lord of your life.
God Bless!
